The Lynchburg Hillcats offense exploded for three or more runs in three separate innings and the Green & Gold bombed the Wilmington Blue Rocks 11-3 on Tuesday night. Jamie Romak (pictured) set a career-high with three doubles and tied a career-high with four hits while driving in three runs. Jim Negrych and Kent Sakamoto had three hits apiece as the Cats ended a brief two-game losing streak. Lynchburg looks to earn the series split on Wednesday as Brad Lincoln (0-1, 11.25 ERA) opposes Pail Mildren (0-3, 5.64 ERA) in a 7:05 start at City Stadium. |
HOLLIDAY NAMED CAROLINA LEAGUE PITCHER OF THE WEEK

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg Hillcats are proud to learn that pitcher Brian Holliday has been named the Carolina League’s Pitcher of the Week for July 7-13. This is the first such honor for the lefthander, and he becomes the first Hillcat to win the award in 2008. He joins Jamie Romak, who won the Carolina League’s Player of the Week last month, as Lynchburg’s second award-winning player this season. |
